Hanji (한지)

Briefly looking at the history of paper, Meng-Yeom(몽염) first developed paper in the Qin Dynasty of China( 진나라, 중국) , and the paper production technology improved by Cai Lun (채륜) in the Later Han Dynasty was introduced to the Korean Peninsular in 105 AD. It is presumed that Hanji (한지) was already used in the Korean Peninsular before Chae Ryun improved paper. Hanji (한지) has been widely recognized for its excellent quality since ancient times. Despite its subtle and soft color, it had the toughness not to tear easily, and it was thin and light, but it was well ventilated and absorbs moisture well, so it was suitable for writing and painting.  It has excellent light-emitting power that makes even the strongest sunlight transparent. Meaning of Pomegranate and Chicken Family picutre

 Pomegranate is delicious, and the kernels that pop every time you eat it are fun.

Pomegranate, which has a pretty shape, also has good benefits for health. Pomegranate is known as a fruit that means fertility because there are many seeds. 

Pomegranates mean fertility, and in China, there is a custom of setting pomegranates at wedding ceremonies and sending them as congratulatory gift to newlyweds.

If a pair of birds is drawn along with a pomegranate tree, the meaning of martial harmony or family happiness is added.

Under the pomegranate tree, a family of chickens enjoying a leisurely meal is depicted. The rooster is guarding the family with one leg raised vigorously.

The hen is busy feeding her chicks. The hen is about to feed her two chicks with an insect in her mouth that appears to be dragonfly.

The rooster was recognized as powerful bird that drove away the darkness and opened the light of dawn. And the rooster symbolizes the five virtues.

  2. Fighting weapon with a pitchfork on the foot.
  3. Fighting against the enemy is courage.
  4. If they have something to eat, inviting them all to eat together is merciful.
  5. It is trustworthy to keep the night and announce the dawn without losing time.
The rock on which the chicken stands symbolizes creativity, vitality , and constancy. It can be said that it contains the desire to live a long time with eternal and unchanging.
